Blending the Old & New

Nestled behind a leafy entrance in a picturesque seaside town, our Modern Heritage project is a return to form for a much loved family home.

Raised on the property in it's former glory, the owners of this home came to Oriana B looking to inject the space with character, homeliness and a sense of history after being used as an apartment building for a number of years.

We were tasked with restoring period features of the property, creating a functional floorplan for modern living and designing a contemporary extension with kitchen and living room for the young family of six.

With a simple brief of a love of colour we set about creating a cohesive, welcoming and interesting home. Mixing old and new by making the most of the bones of the original building with bold colours, and reviving antique pieces of furniture by pairing them with modern shapes and colour.

The modern extension houses a large kitchen complete with floor to ceiling cabinetry to accentuate the 3m height and a five-person island for the busy household. Carrying the green accent of colour throughout the ground floor with kitchen in Pomeiian Ash by Little Greene offset against bright walls of Batch Loaf by Colourtrend, the palette is earthy toned leading beautifully to the outdoor patio where the herringbone floor transforms into herringbone limestone and stunning outdoor kitchen tiled in green zelliege.

With a stunning grand staircase and 10ft arch windows, the journey upstairs is flooded with light reflecting off the warm white walls. The master bedroom suite is a symphony of blue and green with a mix of antique and modern furnishings reflecting back the soul of the house itself.
