East Coast Cool
We were tasked with bringing some New York cool to this gorgeous space in Bray, Co Wicklow. Using the bones of this Victoran era building we stripped the space back and created a concept that took inspiration from old Las Vegas dive bars, Lower East Side retro rock scenes and a big nod to underground dance culture. i
What transpired was a layered space of texture, colour and light. Using original artwork, bespoke fittings and unexpected textures, we brought the space to life and made a cool space for music lovers to gather around cocktails.
We took inspiration from the branding of the bar to create playful goldfish motifs across the space from the custom swimming fish neon signs to the fish scale motifs on window wallpaper and bathrooms. This added a little whimsy to the industrial and dark backdrop of soundproof panelling and the original brick walls.
Tinges of neon light dots through the space, surrounding the original artwork by Russell Marshell depicting cowboys and celebrity mugshots; reflecting the bars' atmosphere of grit and style.
Bespoke furniture and joinery surround the space with two-toned oak tables inspired by the dice tables of Las Vegas and tan leather bench seating styled designed to mimic the seats of a vintage Cadillac. This bar is an ode to the gritty underside of Americana.
