Breathing Life Into a Blank Canvas
Part of a brand new development, this detached property was a true exploration of creativity centring on practical family life and functionality. The owners contacted Oriana B from overseas looking for a turnkey finish and to make this house a characterful home for their young family.
We were tasked with taking this property from white walls, concrete floors and builder grade finishes to a home filled with texture, pattern, colour and whimsy in a mere 12 weeks.
The owners of this home wanted to push out of their comfort zone with colourful accents across a neutral base. Using a palette of green and blue with accents of burnt orange throughout the home, we played with combinations and textures taking inspiration from the Irish landscape to welcome the young family to our fair country.
We wanted to build on texture in this home, using subtle changes in colour and a varied materials board to add depth and gravitas to the simple and contemporary building. With rich green zellige tiles and a truly breath-taking piece of Irish Green Connemara Marble, we created a fireplace and media unit that acts as a bold centrepiece to the living room.
Balancing teal, ecru and blue through the soft furnishings and paint colours, this space is a calming oasis. The chevron oak flooring with a boarder of inlay brass acts as a textured and whimsical base to the colour-filled space.
The kitchen and dining area was enhanced by the addition of a large island, pantry and bar cabinet in stunning Parma Grey by Farrow & Ball with tile detail and topped with incredible viola marble for showstopping effect. Accents of brass throughout the entire home reach fever pitch in the kitchen with luscious solid brass plating and wiring across the joinery and where wood floor meets tile.
The home features a custom home gym with dramatic walnut fluting, sound absorbtion and backlit 2m wide circular mirror. With one way mirror film covering the street facing window, this home gym is a private retreat for a busy household.
Moving upstairs through the bright green tinged hallway, the palette is softened with patterned paper and colourful panelling as the bedrooms feature three distinctive palettes; blue and ecru, rust orange and stone, and an explosion of pink.
The space in the ensuite bathrooms and adjoining bedrooms have been maximized with floor to ceiling sliding doors, giving privacy, space and ease to the flow of the bedrooms. In the children's bedroom a pink chinoiserie wallpaper takes centre stage with a dramatic pelmet and curtain combination to make this room fit for two little princesses.
