The Oriana B Wall Light Collection
Wall lights are such a great way to light a room. They cast ambient light that surrounds your space which is so much more homely than overhead light. The Oriana B Wall Light collection has plenty of pretty shades which will work great for bedsides where you want to light up your evening and not take up too much space on your bedside table. Our bedside wall lights often have wired plugs to make it possible to plug them in if you don't have in wall wiring.
Your Questions on Wall Lights Answered
Wall lights cast an ambient glow around the room creating a lovely harmonious atmosphere. They will help to shine light up and down the wall and on to the faces of the occupants as opposed to ceiling lights which cast light down onto the top of the occupants. Using wall lights in conjunction with ceiling lights can soften the overall effect of ceiling lights and create a more pleasing space to occupy.
Often times you are retrofitting a property and there is no wiring available for a wall light. Look for plug in wall lights that have wiring such as the ones that we have designed at Oriana B. These lights allow for wall mounting yet can be plugged in so are ideal for spaces where chasing wires into the wall is too cumbersome.
Alternatively, if you have nearby electrics, it is often not a big job to get an electrician to attend site and chase in some wires for you. This allows wall lights to be directly wired into the walls and saves the need for plugs.
Putting wall lights by your bedside is really the ultimate in elegant space saving solutions! Wall lights next to a headboard look really pretty as they frame the headboard and give the bed a finished appearance. It also means that you can free up the space on the bedside table to allow for books, glasses of water or even a vase of flowers without it looking or feeling cramped. There is nothing worse than knocking the lamp of the bedside table in the middle of the night!
We recommend placing the wall light halfway between the headboard and the middle of the bedside table. Depending on the size of the wall light, the height needs to be adjusted so that the light emanates from just above where your head is when lying in bed. This will make it easier to read by as the light will cast downwards and illuminate whatever you are reading before bed.
We recommend wall lights be placed between about 160-180cm from the floor depending on where they are in the room. For example, over a sofa might be lower so that the wall lights have a relationship to the furniture in the room. In a hallway, you would relate the wall lights to the doors in the room looking at the top of the wall light being near to the top of the doors.
